Imagine what it must have been like for explorer William Hovell to discover this place on horseback in 1824 and regard the stunning view – so striking, it inspired the name Mount Bellevue. The vineyards and gourmet delights of the King Valley followed in Hovell's footsteps in subsequent generations, but the backdrop of snow-capped alps and endless valley vistas remain virtually unchanged.
Today, this getaway is called Elevation652 at Mt Bellevue. Its name refers to the highest point on the property - 652 metres above sea level. This working cattle property offers charming farm stay accommodations, providing cosy hideaways for up to 8 guests under one roof or up to 12 travellers (18 including sofa beds) in various retreats. Elevation652 at Mt Bellevue
doesn't just proffer a taste of idyllic country life; it comes with vineyard views too. In fact, the grapes grown here go into bottles of wine under Yalumba's Redbank label. Your hosts, Phil and Michelle, live on the property in the homestead and love sharing the beauty of their home with guests.
Near the homestead is a stone building that is home to two suites – the upstairs Eyrie (king bed) and the Den downstairs (two king single beds). Sharing a driveway with the Eyrie and the homestead is the Garden House, a modern one-bedroom cottage with a Coonara fireplace, queen bed and sofa bed. The Garden House is located near the tennis court and vegetable gardens. The Cattleman's Cottages sits five kilometres away from the other getaways and has three bedrooms (two queens, one twin single) as well as a full kitchen, two bathrooms and a wood-fired heater. It also has a sofa bed, great for children.
