Sky High is simply spectacular. This is the kind of home that leaves a lingering impression, even after a guest checks out. With a commanding outlook over Mount Franklin in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges - a view afforded thanks to a ridge-top perch - Sky High’s elevated name isn’t limited to its location.
Your first glimpse of Sky High comes as you drive up the gently rolling hill and, if you weren’t already giddily anticipating your time here, this is when excitement levels hit fever pitch. See, Sky High is as beautifully designed as it is brilliantly located. The home is an iconic piece of architecture in the region, made up of clean lines, geometric circles, monochromatic tones and a mass of floor-to-ceiling windows.
Park your ride in the garage, perhaps leaving your bags in the trunk so you can properly explore before unpacking, and cross the courtyard garden before pushing open Sky High’s front door. Amid soft the ‘wows’, ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ that are sure to escape your lips once you pass the threshold, guests will discover an impeccably styled den, flaunting polished concrete floors, chrome accents, exposed stone walls, and a magnificent dining table that has been repurposed from an old bowling alley.
With a triangular floor plan that radiates out from the aforementioned central courtyard, Sky High has plenty of good angles. The kitchen, dining and living space is long and light-filled, running adjacent to the elongated deck at the rear of the house. The master bedroom is worth fighting for. It occupies the back left corner and has an exquisite ensuite (partly shielded by a curved stone feature wall) complete with freestanding inky, egg-shaped bathtub.
Spend a day getting to the know the views from each of the outdoor decks, though you may find yourself revisiting the plunge pool multiple times. There is even an enclosed deck area, fitted with a telescope for admiring the surrounds even when the mercury cools.
