Once a miner’s cottage, now a delightful spa-country digs. At Absolute, while the heritage character has been maintained, modern flair and all the creature comforts have been added.
The cottage’s recent refurbishment is a fresh take on its historic style. Stepping past the classic façade, we were surprised to find cool retro décor mixed with more traditional features – think walls adorned with fun prints and pops of colour in homewares, set against vintage furnishings, polished timber floors and stained glass windows. The eclectic design makes for an inviting – and inspiring – spot to unwind. And being equipped with an iMac, if you were coming for a work holiday this would be a good place to get the creativity flowing.
All of the house’s parts were designed with socialising in mind. Three spacious bedrooms each come with king split beds, making this the perfect choice for a girls’ weekend or for groups of families and friends. There are big comfy couches for everyone to hangout after busy days spent between the mineral spas and massage tables. A great, open kitchen with an island-bench means whipping up meals is easy. But our favourite communal space would have to be the rear deck – with bar seating, a barbecue and scenic views of Wombat Hill and The Convent, this is the ideal setting for sunset drinks and catching up.
Just a short stroll from Daylesford’s cute shops, gourmet delis, great pubs and cafés, you’re well placed to get out and absorb all the offerings. If you’re into pre-loved knick-knacks, the Mill Market near the main street has an incredible collection. If you prefer activity to antiquing, go on a peaceful wander around Lake Daylesford. And if it’s the pampering you’re after, mosey on over to Hepburn Springs. There’s something for everyone here.
Guests say: "The house was just wonderful. We had dogs with us - who thoroughly enjoyed the property - and we loved being able to leave them in a very secure yard. Would love to book the house again in the future!"
