Step inside this stately pile and your expectations for luxury city accommodation will never be the same again. This 1887 home has been meticulously renovated and boasts an interior that’s a beautiful blend of heritage architecture and contemporary creature comforts.
No matter if you stay with family or friends, you don’t have to worry about living in cramped quarters with five generous bedrooms on offer. Tip: get in
early to bag the master bedroom – it has a walk-in wardrobe and sleek ensuite. There’s also an ensuite in the second bedroom, and the remaining three
rooms have access to a central bathroom. Two living areas give guests the chance to come together or sneak away for a moment alone. Both lounges are
roomy and have comfortable couches, books, a television and DVDs. No doubt living the high life will kickstart your appetite, so make for the gourmet
kitchen and then one of two dining areas (no, that wasn’t a typo – there are two dining areas). For a Downton Abbey inspired soiree,
the formal dining room is resplendent, while a more casual meal can be taken in the informal dining space.
But wait, there’s more. You could also head outside to the Rick Eckersley designed garden and dine al fresco. The large garden is dotted with sun loungers, secluded dining areas and even boasts a fish pond (this one is sure to be a hit with the little ones). The mansion has a prime perch in bayside St Kilda, a suburb known for its buzzing lifestyle and top-shelf eateries. Don’t be surprised if you’re more than happy to spend most of your time on the property though. Melbourne Mansion is ideal for both long-term and short-term stays, and can accommodate both families and groups of friends. Let the owners know ahead of time and you can even bring along your pet.
What guests have said:
"We had a fantastic time at Jennifer's St Kilda house. The space was perfect, there was plenty of room for our group of 10 and, to top everything off, the back garden area was lovely. Jennifer was very accommodating. Highly recommended!" - Lauren, December 2015
"Our families stayed here for four nights before and after our wedding, and the house was ideal for a few families. Lots of living areas, big bedrooms and an amazing backyard perfect for a barbecue and a few drinks on a nice day. The owner was very helpful and prompt to respond to any questions before the stay. Anything you can think of, this house has it. In a nice quiet street, but only a few minutes' walk from lots of cafes and restaurants. It was ideal for the wedding weekend." - October, 2015
"Three generations of my family stayed in this property for 12 nights in March while visiting St Kilda for my brother's wedding. There is ample space for people to not be on top of each other. We spent most of the time in the well equipped kitchen and garden. There is everything in the house to make it a home from home. The house is fitted out to a very high standard and is ideally located for shops, bars, restaurants, the beach and the tram network. The owner of the property was extremely helpful in providing lots of local information, and the manager of the property lives locally and is on hand if required. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and hope to stay again on our next visit to St Kilda. Thanks Jenny for making our stay so memorable." - March, 2015
