First, the location. It's in the heart of historic Williamstown, just a few steps from the water with its picturesque yachts and fishing boats giving the whole area a seaside buzz.
Step inside and this large, exquisitely renovated Victorian home will send you on a voyage of discovery. The owner has a most wonderful eye for detail and has filled the house with exquisite antiques, vintage finds and objects d'art everywhere.
Float up the sweeping staircase and be welcomed into the luscious upstairs guest lounge. This is an oasis of elegance and calm, an inviting place in which to enjoy the help-yourself teas, coffees and cakes always on-hand. It's also where memorable breakfasts are served, though on a warm morning we suggest starting the day on the sun-drenched upper terrace with its city skyline views.
The rooms here are all different, though all are beautiful, and each one features either one or two gorgeous, arched lead-light windows. Our favourite is the upstairs Captain's Suite, with its gas log fire, exclusive access to the verandah and spa ensuite. Other rooms are equally charming - think heritage with impeccable taste and style. And for that added indulgence, there's also an in-house beauty and massage room. We love it all!
