Flex your wings and fly the coop, these nests are too good to ignore

It’s no coincidence that Eagles Nest Retreat feels and looks like a dream. This set of three dwellings was the dream of owner Des, who went from dairy farmer to landscaper, architect, interior decorator and furniture designer during the nests’ build. As such, you’ll find no carbon-copy accommodations on this 20-hectare property, and you’ll be able to feel the heart and soul that has been lovingly put into each of these escapes.

Tasmania and its natural wonders are the backbone of Eagles Nest I. Tasmanian timbers and Ben Lomond granite mingle with furniture and artwork from local artisans. Touches you might not normally expect from a rural retreat – underfloor heating in the bathroom, outdoor spa, custom mood lighting and a revolving sofa – await couples and small families.

Eagles Nest II is the glamour puss of the bunch, with its global-inspired style, exotically decorated wings, hammock-dotted courtyard, reading loft, outdoor shower and lakeside spa.

Eagles Nest III might be the latecomer to the Retreat’s posse but, along with its new kid on the block status, it also offers three bedrooms, a sunken Japanese-style dining table, vegetable garden and a fire pit. It’s cosy, snug and modelled on a South American farmhouse.

All stays come bedecked with mementoes from the travels of Des and his wife, Diane. Gizmos and gadgets make each nest modern and restful, while the option for private chefs, butler services and in-house massages set the nests apart from other stock-standard country pads.
