Striking suites with all the mod cons

This is one of those places that looks so incredible you might be skeptical of the reality, but believe us, The Frames really is this good. Perched on a hillside in South Australia's Riverland - known for its top-notch wineries and natural beauty - this not-so-secret gem was awarded 'best new tourism development' in 2014.

The Frames is made up of three separate suites dubbed Pastiche, Montage and Collage. Pastiche and Montage are designed to cater to one lucky couple each, while Collage has room enough for four. Aptly named, walking into each space is much like admiring a work of art; both architecture and interior design are strikingly distinctive.

One of the most appealing features of The Frames is the peaceful and secluded setting. And better still, you've got a huge private deck to sit back and take in the scene. Each suite has its own BBQ, dining area, swimming pool and Jacuzzi, all alongside stunning river views - everything needed for a great time outside.

The Frames offers so many luxury features, the hardest decision you'll have to make is where to begin. The bedroom is a decent place to start - with a built-in massage function on your plush king-sized bed, sleeping in never felt so good. Bathing comes complete with divine L'Occitane wash products, heated floors and rails, so you can jump straight out of the shower to grab your towel hot off the rack, minus the dread of stepping onto ice-cold tiles.

After lolling about in the pool and Jacuzzi, catching sun on the deck and rolling around the river, melt into the couch with a glass of wine and choose from the range of movies loaded onto your smart TV. And if you want to chill-out at home for meals, choose an in-house chef, have three-course feasts delivered, or enjoy an easy dinner with a gourmet barbecue pack.

With such a luxe retreat you couldn't be blamed for wanting to stay in, but if you do get the urge to step out there's plenty to do. Refresh amongst nature by jumping on a beautiful bushland trail or exploring the surrounding national parks. And when you've worked up an appetite, pop into nearby cellar doors to sample their wares and pick up a bottle or few to bring back.

The Frames offers a number of in-house activities including sunset cruises, river canoeing, guided wildlife tours, and the opportunity to choose your own adventure on one of their new electric bikes.

Owners say:
"Discover the magic of the Riverland through a range of experiences. Go on a sunset cruise with champagne and nibbles in our beautifully restored Gondola. Take a guided tour through creeks and backwaters showcasing the wildlife and birdlife of the region (plus a few surprises). Visit the national parks to view the lock systems and to get a real taste of the outback. Taste Riverland wines from cellar doors at Banrock Station, Angove and 919 Wines, and visit historic spots like the Wilkadene Brewery, Overland Corner and Ruston's Rose Garden."
