The Louise is just as an elegant boutique country hotel should be. This luxe lodging spills out across verdant Barossa pasture, fringed by vine-strewn hills and enveloping guests in a refined cocoon of warm welcomes, graceful suites and acclaimed fine dining.
A design thread of understated luxury and classic styling is woven throughout the hotel and its 15 suites. Warm, muted colour palettes and contemporary furnishings make it easy to sink into the sanctuary each suite offers. The ensuites are exceptionally generous, with bathrooms across all suite types featuring walk-in rain showers. There is even an outdoor shower in the Stonewell, Seppeltsfield and Estate Suites for those partial to exhibitionism, albeit within the private confines of your room’s sheltered outdoor space.
The hotel has four suite types. How do you choose? Weigh up which takes your fancy more. If you long to sip sundowners on your own vineyard-facing terrace then the top-end Seppeltsfield or the two-bedroom Estate Suites are a go-to. Or, if you plan of being out and about for a majority of your time in the Barossa yet still want to return to the lap of luxury; the entry-level Vineyard Suite is your ticket.
Given its locale, in the heart of a prolific food and wine region, it is only natural that The Louise has its own onsite eatery. But Appellation isn’t just a restaurant; this is one of the most acclaimed degustation diners in Australia. The menu is at the mercy of the seasons, as executive chef Daniel Murphy and his team create dishes based on local produce. Diners will savour ingredients harvested from the hotel’s kitchen garden as well as house-baked breads and house-cured meats.
In keeping with its gourmet credentials, the hotel encourages its guests to sip and savour the best of the Barossa. Exclusive experiences, such as sunrise picnic breakfasts, wine-blending sessions with local vignerons, market tours, cooking classes and private wine tastings, can all be arranged. Beware: picking just one to add to your time in the Barossa is near impossible.
