There are only a handful of wilderness camps around Australia, each offering a unique insight into the timeless Australian landscape. Tanja Lagoon Camp is one of the newest.
This is the dream of owners Loz Hunt and Sam Bright. Their passion for nature and a desire to raise their family in a sustainable way has grounded them in this precious pocket of land on the edge of a lagoon, surrounded by the Mimosa Rocks National Park.
This is ‘glamping’ – glamorous camping for city escapees who want comfort with their eco-credibility. You will stay in one of four safari tents elevated on a beautiful timber platform. Everything a soft adventurer secretly desires is here - a gloriously comfortable bed, an eco-fire, fluffy towels, a sparkling ensuite (two even have a bath) and a kitchen. A breezeway with barbeque and a spacious deck facing the lagoon complete the picture. One accessible tent also accommodates families - the kids will love the authentic swag beds.
Tanja Lagoon is stunning, from the golden burst of sunlight at dawn to blushing orange at sunset. You can stay in bed and watch the bird life, kayak to Middle Beach or take a swim at Bithry Inlet. Be active with mountain biking, fishing or surfing or discover indigenous lore, local wines and fresh oysters.
