Get to know Kingscliff

With good looks by the bucketload, Kingscliff won’t disappoint when it comes to first impressions. You won’t be able to go past a beach without wanting to scrunch your toes in the sand. You’ll want to roll up your pant legs and get your ankles wet too. And with a range of Kingscliff accommodation by the beach that prospect is always within reach.

Kingscliff sits just south of Tweed Heads on the NSW North Coast and is a short drive from Gold Coast airport. Those hitting Kingscliff by road might tie-in this picturesque beach town with a visit to other North Coast draws - Byron Bay, Pottsville, Hastings Point - or even jump the border into Queensland. No matter how you choose to reach Kingscliff the accommodation options are plentiful, including oceanfront resorts, beach houses and self-catering apartments.

Naturally, watersports are big here and you can get in on the action with a spot of kayaking or snorkelling. Head to Cook Island Aquatic Reserve where you can even swim with green sea turtles. The thought of picking up a new skill might be tempting too, so booking into a surfing lesson with one of the schools in town. With consistent waves and beginner-friendly breaks, Kingscliff is the perfect place to learn how to hang ten.

Forget using two feet to explore Kingscliff. Instead, opt for two wheels. Hire a bike and start pedalling along one of the great cycling paths, which extend from Fingal Head - make sure to swing past the Fingal Head Lighthouse - to Pottsville. On your return to Kingscliff, pull up at one of the cafes and restaurants along Marine Parade and Bells Boulevard for some post-cycle sustenance. On the other hand, heading straight back to your Kingscliff accommodation with the idea of relaxing on the couch or sipping sundowners on the balcony might take your fancy.

The second and fourth Saturday of each month heralds the Kingscliff Market, where you can stroll around stalls and pick up fresh produce. Fans of fruit can take the tasting one step further by visiting nearby Tropical Fruit world (hint: there’s even a chocolate pudding fruit).
