Bass Lodge is located on the Upper Macleay River between Armidale and Kempsey. Being completely surrounded by National Parks, the wilderness setting is absolutely captivating.
There is nothing quite like this amazing wilderness lodge. Built from stone sourced from the Macleay River and locally-milled cypress logs, Bass Lodge has been assembled without a single nail. The craftsmanship is truly impressive and it’s clear much love was poured into its creation. Thoughts will turn to the great tradition of the American log cabin, but this lodge has a uniquely Australian feel about it.
Bass Lodge feels intimate for a couple, but comes into its own for groups up to 15. There are four bedrooms (one with spa) and a terrific kitchen, but the jaw-dropper is the lounge with its cathedral ceiling, stained glass window and handcrafted staircase. This is sure to be the scene of many happy times.
Another favourite will be the deck with its river views and barbeque.
You don’t have to be into fishing, but if you are or you want to give it a go, the lodge’s name hints at the catch that awaits in the river. Just step over to the banks and cast in your line. The bushwalking is legendary and four-wheel drivers will be in heaven.
