Farmhouse bliss in a valley of plenty

Every now and again we find a little gem that is bursting with such a happy story it makes us want to star jump as we share the news.

Auntie Eileen, the previous owner of this late-1800s Kangaroo Valley home, was famed for her utterly yummy sponge. Sharing this tradition with guests is just one of the many heartfelt touches that current owners Helen and John leave for their guests to discover.

You get the whole house to yourself, but farmer John is nearby if desired to take the kids on an exploration of the vegetable and fruit gardens and meet an adorable cast of farm animals that includes ducks, chickens, goats, sheep and pigs. Guests are welcome to gather seasonal produce from the garden, including quinces, leafy greens, veggies, citrus and eggs.

All this and we’ve yet to mention the farmhouse– a real charmer that has a cozy lounge, a separate dining room and a country kitchen where you’ll find your freshly-baked sponge waiting. The feel is eclectic, authentic and comfortable. There are three bedrooms (the kid’s bunk room has a secret playroom stocked with toys) and a wrap-around verandah with gorgeous valley view's to complete the picture.
