Whether it's summer or winter, spring or autumn; a sun-drenched getaway is always a good idea.
When planning your blue-sky and sunglasses-dependent holiday, you usually have some priorities. Maybe you're after an epic resort-style pool, complete with fountains, waterfalls and hey-even slides. Or perhaps a white sand beach with crystal clear blue water and shady spots under palm trees are on the top of your list.
But who are we kidding? They both sound fantastic, so why should you have to compromise? What about a getaway with an amazing pool overlooking a sublime stretch of sand? So where can you find Australia's best beachside pools? At these 11 stays, that's where!
Loll about a glistening lido taking in the view from a sun lounger, or float in the ocean until you’re ready to sip cocktails by your luxe pool. Sounds pretty damn spectacular to us. Here are Australia's best getaways with pools by the beach. You're welcome!
Blue Ocean Apartment, Palm Beach, QLD
Blue Ocean Apartment is the kind of place that makes you want to linger for a week or few. Planted on the shores of peaceful Palm Beach, here, you're a good distance from The Gold Coast crowds. The apartment interiors are bright, breezy and full of colour, and sliding glass welcomes in water views. There’s a river mouth perfect for swimming (especially if you’ve got littlies), tennis courts, mini-golf, barbecues, a giant chess set, and best of all; a sparkling palm-shaded pool that overlooks the beach. The best of both worlds!

Better yet, keep a bottle of the region’s fine wine chilling poolside so you can sip after your swim.

Jump on the Fitzroy Fast Cat in Cairns, and a refreshing 45-minutes later you’ll disembark at Fitzroy Island Resort. The hotel’s breathtaking oceanfront pool and spa come complete with a swim-up bar. Nothing spells ‘ultimate tropical getaway’ like having a cocktail delivered to you in a pool that overlooks the beach.
Mirage Whitsundays, Cannonvale, QLD
When it comes to Australia's best beaches, the Whitsundays region ranks pretty darn high. One could assume that the term 'white sand beaches' was invented after spying the jewelled islands of the Whitsundays, shining like diamonds in a sea of turquoise and sapphire. Mirage Whitsundays suitably fits the diamond description, with luxury accommodation options in self-contained apartments or five-star rooms. Enjoy stunning views of Airlie beach, and relax in the lagoon pool, jacuzzi or even hit the onsite gym if you're feeling energetic from all that relaxing you've been doing.
