10 of Australia’s Most Spectacular Pool Views
Posted by Stephanie Mikkelsen on Friday, December 8, 2017
When it comes to holiday bucket lists, pools and views rank pretty highly.
So we’ve combined the two and done the hard work for you – rounding up Australia’s most incredible pools with views. It was a tough job, but we took the plunge. From outlooks across ocean to panoramas over pasture, these views will have you looking twice - then mentally congratulating yourself on booking such a good-looking getaway. Needless to say, a trip to one of these luxury escapes calls for your best set of swimmers, a new tube of sunscreen and that book that has been on your to-read list for far too long...
Check out 10 of the top pool views below, or head to the collection to see the full round up.
East Bedarra Island Retreat, Queensland
Picture this – you’re in a private villa on a secluded island, standing on a deck suspended over the turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef. The waiter brings over two cocktails and you take in the sunset over the Coral Sea. Welcome to East Bedarra Island Retreat.
Seahorse Luxury Beach House, Western Australia
The Seahorse Beach House might only be 10 minutes drive from Margaret River, but with unbroken ocean views it feels totally secluded. The private saltwater lap pool means you can get in a work-out whilst taking in the world-class surf breaks. Or, you could just take in the world-class surf breaks and sip a glass of sparkling. We know what we’ll be doing.
Hamilton Island Beach Club, Queensland
The view from the pool at this adults-only resort on Hamilton Island looks like it was plucked from the front of a Whitsundays postcard. The infinity-edge pool overlooks the ocean and Catseye Beach. Plus its also heated in winter so those that migrate north in the chillier months can still take their daily dips. When you emerge, dry off and retreat to your luxe villa or the private Beach Club restaurant and lounge.
Vantage Over Byron, New South Wales
Take a moment to pick your jaw up off the ground – the outlook across the pool at Vantage Over Byron is enough to leave even the most seasoned pool-peruser in a state of shock and awe. True to this property’s name, the swimming pool offers a view across the township, the verdant hinterland and the ocean beyond. And yes, don’t be afraid to break out the #nofilter when you post about your stay here on Instagram.
Put simply, the outlook from the black-tiled, infinity-edge pool at Jackalope on the Mornington Peninsula is one of a kind. With a Peninsula Colada (the hotel’s take on the iconic coconut sundowner) in hand, guests can wade in the pool and look out across Willow Creek Vineyard. The vines feel so close some may be tempted to reach to truly test if it is within arms reach. One end of the pool houses a bubbling spa.
Eagleview Park, New South Wales
If you have your heart set on practicing your doggy-paddle in a pool backdropped by pasture-dotted vistas then The House or Guesthouse is your go-to. The sleek saltwater pool shared by the two accommodations is flanked by timber decking, and the set of sunloungers make the perfect perch for admiring the panorama across the Illawarra countryside.
Ocean Retreat, Tasmania
Tasmania’s East Coast is a photogenic place, and it is hard to think of a better position to admire it than from the waterfront plunge pool at Ocean Retreat. The heated offering at this luxury escape in Falmouth may not be the kind to get in some laps but chances are getting in some freestyle or backstroke work will be the last thing on your mind. Instead, resting your arms on the edge and simply appreciating the turquoise coastline below seems like the order of the day.
Noosa Holiday House, Queensland
Noosa’s beaches are world famous; golden sand and excellent surf await. If, on occasion though, you find yourself not wanting to get too sandy, a dunk in Noosa Holiday House’s solar-heated swimming pool will more than suffice. From this paddle pool, you will still catch glimpses of the iconic shoreline. When you’ve sufficiently splashed about, drift off to the sounds of the ocean in one of the sunloungers.
Ora Beach House, New South Wales
Perched proudly on one of the NSW South Coast’s most magnificent headland locations is Ora Beach House. And so naturally, the views from the home’s pool are equally as spectacular. The in-ground saltwater swimming pool commands views out to the waves crashing below. At low tide, you can spy the sandy shore.
Not all pool views have to include a glimpse of the ocean, and a vista that swaps palms for pasture and beach for beautiful gardens can rival even the most tropical outlook. LionsGate in Red Hill has such a panorama – and boy, is it a good one. Think lush lawns and a manicured landscape – plus a slice of Port Phillip Bay on the horizon, just for good measure. When you’re not in the pool, kick back with a glass of local wine on the wrap-around deck.
