Janet and Keith Hillam are well-travelled gourmands whose commitment to local produce and enthusiasm for this precious region are inspiring. The Lodge has king and queen rooms in the main house (ideal for two couples travelling together), a guest living room and library and sumptuous spa suites in The Colonnade Wing.
Our favourite is the sensational double-storey Garden Suite with its romantic vaulted-ceiling bedroom – a totally enchanting architectural folly. There is an air of European elegance here, with collectables from the hosts' travels, combined with a distinctive Australian style featuring original artworks (many by local artists) and a sun-kissed beachfront location.
Try whale spotting during your sunrise walk along the beach and then it is time for a treat: Janet and Keith weave their culinary magic to create a gourmet buffet and à la carte breakfast to delight all aficionados of morning repasts. After this indulgent start, you are ready for a day of exploring the wineries, history and coastline of this picturesque region.
