At Glenorie Lookout Lodge, it is just you and some of the most sensational views in Western Australia. Sitting high on a table-top hill on this huge farming property provides a feeling of solitude that is hard to find in a crowded world.
From July to October, the valley is a sea of wildflowers and streams snake through the land as they course towards the ocean. In the dry, the scene is captivating. Eagles soar past at eye level and kangaroos bound along behind the cottage. As the only guests on the property, you will not see another soul apart from a brief welcome by host Leonie. Whether you want to learn about the farm or be left to yourself, she will gladly oblige. The property offers plenty to explore and see: the pristine bush, the Hutt River, prolific bird life and a spectacular blanket of stars at night. 
And in a storm, your hideout offers a panoramic view of the action with a cosy wood fire for warmth.
If you are headed to Monkey Mia, a stopover at this rustic, hand-built stone cottage will be a highlight of the journey. Bring your provisions, a good book, walking shoes and be ready to experience life on the land – or should that be life above the land?
