This sprawling estate offers so much that it is difficult to know where to start. Spectacular views of the Cathedral Ranges, an 18-hole golf course, an incredible rose garden, outdoor swimming pool (plus an indoor pool centre), day spa, tennis courts and activities as varied as trout fishing and wine tasting.
And then there's the food – Stonelea has an enviable reputation as a gourmet getaway. Chef Caroline Berry sources regional produce including trout, beef, venison, cheeses and fruit – and the results are memorable (her self-confessed sweet tooth ensures brilliant desserts). Best of all, the all-inclusive rate includes breakfast and dinner so a getaway here is a feast for the senses.
Choose between one- or two-bedroom cottages scattered among trees and lawns and  overlooking the lake. Each has a pot-bellied stove for winter warming, air-conditioning and plenty of other comforts. Alternatively, there are king-size verandah suites near the main building. With food, wine, space and activities in abundance, Stonelea is the perfect escape.
