If you enjoy browsing through country galleries, this Yarra Valley gallery and B&B provides an irresistible opportunity to indulge yourself with much more than a quick peek. Your host, Ernst Fries, is a world-renowned specialist in stone and steel sculpture (his gallery is open Thursday to Monday) and he welcomes guests to the two colourful mud brick and timber suites on the property.
The earthy tones of the walls are offset by yellows and hints of blue, infusing the interiors with a warm elegance. An artistic sensibility pervades the place, from the deft use of stained glass to the well-placed artworks. Both suites overlook a small vineyard, bringing nature right into this captivating picture. The spacious rooms are equipped with glowing wood heaters and each bathroom has a spa. There is a separate lounge room, dining area and well-equipped kitchen.
 Ernst's other artistic talent is serving up a European breakfast, giving you a great start to touring the local area. The Yarra Valley is bursting with wineries, excellent food and, a bit farther afield, beautiful mountain walks and drives.
