Timboon House was built in 1855 from local bluestone as a stopover point for Cobb & Co travellers. More than 150 years later (and after lavish attention from owners Denise and John King) Timboon House is again warmly welcoming guests. Travellers to the Great Ocean Road region can once more revel in its serene rooms and gorgeous gardens (the 2½ hectare property includes 400 rose bushes that will delight keen gardeners or strollers). A sense of history pervades Timboon House, thanks to the sympathetic restoration. The three in-house bedrooms have Baltic pine floors that glow with age and the beds, claw-foot baths and antiques are totally in keeping with the beautiful rooms.
The original stables (c1840s) have been fully restored and now offer spacious, self-
contained accommodation with two large bedrooms, a kitchen, lounge room and a magnificent bathroom – all finished in charming country style. Whichever lodgings you choose, enjoy breakfast overlooking the stunning countryside and soak up the heritage ambience. Location: 203km or 2½ hours southwest of Melbourne. Melway 926 G7. HEMA RA 45 H8.
Facilities: In-house: three rooms, each with private bathroom (further bedroom available for guests travelling together), guest lounge, dining room (open fires); full breakfast served. One cottage: two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, bathroom; breakfast basket provided. Visit this property's website
