It's almost impossible to believe this lovely, late-Victorian house is only a short stroll from the shops and restaurants of Cowes' main street, and just a few doors up from the beach. While Phillip Island may not be New York when it comes to congestion (thank goodness) Genesta House is nevertheless a leafy, tranquil haven and the perfect traditional B&B base for your next island getaway.
All four rooms have comfortable queen-size beds and their own verandahs. Gay's hearty breakfasts are usually served in the dining room, but if it's a warm day breakfast can be served on your own verandah overlooking the mass of established trees in the gardens (accompanied by a tinkling fountain).
There are books and games in the lounge and the rear of the property features a large terrace with umbrellas, a hot spa and a barbecue, giving another dinner option to the many restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Of course, Genesta House is only a short drive to the penguin parade, koala park, Seal Rocks, Grand Prix track and other attractions of Phillip Island.
