It's difficult to know which is the biggest attraction at The Buckland: the magnificent view across the valley to Mount Buffalo or the stunningly executed studios. We'd probably plump for the latter, mainly for the way some seriously radical architecture is counterpointed by stone, timber and corrugated iron for a country kind of feel, with a hearty dash of eco-consciousness as well.
And did we mention romance' Each studio has room for two in contemporary comfort, with cracking views from the windows or deck. Chocolaty brown fabrics, ample opportunities to put your feet up before the wood stove and fluffy goose-down doonas in the bedrooms are enticing. But the sensational double shower with its floor-to-ceiling window giving the roos a great view in is just plain good fun.
 Alert readers will have noticed that The Buckland now also has its own cafe. Designed along similar lines to the studios, it's the place guests head for brekkie, the daily papers and (weather permitting) a lazy cafe latte (or two) on the terrace. A very yummy package.
