Wander out on to the verandahs that wrap around Bluegum Ridge's cottages, and you'll be treated to a view across rolling countryside to Mount Buller that has inspired high country cattlemen, poets and explorers for the last 150 years.
In fact, the rustic nature of these rough-hewn cottages, surrounded by eponymous blue gums, is perfectly in keeping with the scenery, except for them being bang up to date with 21st century comforts. You'll be greeted with a glass of bubbly by either Barb or John, who have lavished an extraordinary amount of detail on the cottages. Inside, there's lots of warmth and colour with timber and corrugated iron panelling, a hearty wood stove and a real country feel but with contemporary finishes especially in the bathroom and kitchen.
 There are plenty of outdoor activities such as mountain biking, ballooning, fishing, winery visits or golf with Mansfield also just down the road. Or for the less active there's Bluegum's huge outdoor hot spa – perfect for dreamy mountain views by day and stargazing at night.
