If your dream is to awaken mere metres from a sun-blessed vineyard after a night enjoying an exquisite dinner, then do we have the place for you. Moorooduc Estate is a peaceful haven along an unsealed road – and worth the detour. As well as three gorgeous guest suites, it is home to Jill McIntyre's acclaimed restaurant (recommended by The Age Good Food Guide), and husband Richard produces some of the Peninsula's finest wines.
Centrepiece of the estate is the restaurant and guest rooms with their rammed-earth construction that blends with the landscape and soars above it. The upstairs restaurant features sweeping views (and a glorious wave-shaped ceiling), black leather couches and even a grand piano. On weekends, it is where Jill serves outstanding menus using as much local organic produce as possible – naturally complemented by an extensive wine list.
 Downstairs are the guest suites clad in the soothing tones of the natural walls, terracotta tiled floors and filmy curtains overlooking a sunken courtyard garden. Heavenly.
Location: 60km or one hour south of Melbourne. Melway 152 H2. HEMA 43 H8.
Facilities: Three ensuite bedrooms (king/twin bed). In-house guests enjoy a full breakfast served in the dining room. Tennis courts; in-house massages; wood-fired oven (pizza on summer Friday nights); cellar door (Thur-Mon); restaurant open on weekends and for functions.
