From their mansions on Mount Olympus, the Greek gods looked down on the follies and vanities of the world below. That same Olympian perspective is on extraordinary view from Arthurs Superb Views, but here the sublime vista is of Port Phillip Bay, the towers of Melbourne and the sensuous curve of coast around to Sorrento. Zeus and his pals couldn't have asked for a better spot to sit back in the evening with a cup of wine and watch a glorious sunset.
Arthurs has just three suites, each with its own spa and private balcony. We really love the design that allows you to soak up the view as you soak in the bubbling warmth of your spa. All the extras are here, from Foxtel on the TV to fluffy bathrobes to slip into for a very relaxed evening (ask about the indulgent in-room massages and dinner packages).
A full or continental breakfast is on call from 8.30 to 9.30am (if you are awake then), which will set you up for a day of touring the Mornington Peninsula's wineries, beaches and restaurants. But no one will look puzzled if you decide to stay put and park yourselves on your private balcony setting with a plunger of coffee and a book. Location: 80km or 80 minutes south of Melbourne.
