Hosts Pearl and Malcolm Findlay have created an in-house B&B with three ensuite rooms, each elegantly decorated in muted tones and sharing the views. At the centre of the home is an impressive lounge/dining room, where Pearl serves a substantial breakfast (with real espresso) and, in the evening, the room is transformed into an elegant dining experience. On offer is a chef-prepared menu that is sure to include chestnuts (in season). Expect rack of lamb, Atlantic salmon or quail on wild rice and something decadent for dessert. Whether for a romantic dinner, or for a group of three couples, dining in this stylish retreat will be memorable.
For romantics, the private self-contained Chesters Studio is the pick – the split-level bedroom has a spa overlooking the Tambo River and there is a spacious lounge, kitchen and a verandah to take in the view. Location: 315km or 3.5 hours east of Melbourne. Melway 929 B5. HEMA RA 50 D7.
