From down-at-heel grunge to contemporary ultra-chic, the metamorphosis of the old Prince of Wales Hotel has been as magical as a fairy tale. True, the original public bar that spills onto the Fitzroy Street pavement still resonates with the raffish St Kilda of old, but around the corner the Acland Street entrance to The Prince takes you to another world entirely. Creative architect and designer Paul Hecker has transformed the interior into an elegantly sophisticated boutique hotel that is visually fantastic and physically luxurious.
