It might be wise to zero the old credit card balance before booking into this sumptuous, spacious apartment. Not because the rates are expensive: but with the fashion boutiques and restaurants of Chapel Street and Toorak Road nearby, and the antique district of Armadale down the road, there's a mighty opportunity to raid Melbourne's best shopping areas.
And what a base to set out from! Nestled in a quiet residential street, Hawkesburn is a warehouse-style apartment and simply dripping with inner-city style in a restrained, Melbourne kind of way. Its three storeys include a funky industrial staircase leading to a combined kitchen, dining and living area, which is decked out in glowing timbers and cool whites and bathed in light from the outdoor deck (which has shade, seating and a barbeque).
Upstairs is the love nest: a spacious bedroom and ensuite for two (or one, if you're  sadly on business) done in bright whites offset by a Chinese mirror and Ethiopian king's chair. This apartment is what most Prahran locals dream of: the good news is that it's yours for the taking.
