This peaceful oasis in rolling hills and farmland behind the Surf Coast has long been recommended by The Age Good Food Guide as a licensed restaurant. Now the 15-acre property has plans to develop its own vineyard and has created accommodation in three split-level pavilions. These are secluded enough for a romantic retreat, but it's only a short walk across a field to the restaurant and patio by the side of a lily pond where ducks and geese paddle sedately. Say hello to kangaroos on your way to dinner at dusk, and afterwards return to the tastefully decorated and furnished pavilions fitted out with full-length windows, exquisite bathrooms and mezzanine sleeping areas.
Bellbrae Harvest is a splendid base for touring the dramatically picturesque Great Ocean  Road. However, there's no need to venture out of your snug, king-size bed early in the morning, as breakfast is available until noon. And with food this good, you should stay for a few days to take advantage of the inclusive deals with meals.
