For a romantic retreat or relaxing refresher in a serene rural environment just over an hour from Melbourne, an escape to one of the two Ripplebrook cottages could well be the answer. They are tucked away among a scattering of gum trees on a 40-acre property that is home to contented cows and grazing horses. Beyond the rolling hills, there are views of Mount Dandenong and the Baw Baw Ranges to the north and glimpses of Westernport Bay to the south.
A sheaf of testimonials bear witness to the peace and serenity of the surroundings and the welcoming warmth of the timber cottage interiors, which bring repeat visits year-round. Both cottages are furnished in a warm country style with modern amenities. Romantics will be attracted to Leena Cottage, with its four-poster king-sized bed draped with organza, the subtle fairy lighting, and the candle-lit comfort of the double spa. The Miners' Cottage is just as snug; its spa looks out over the countryside.
