The tranquil and private location of Hisha, with its bushland setting in two acres of gardens, belies the superbly contemporary design of this three-bedroom lodge. Better still, it's near all the very best offered by delicious Daylesford.
Hisha's floor-to-ceiling windows look towards town, which is only a 15-minute walk away. The house is expansively spacious, from the sunken lounge – called The Snug (with its fireplace, big plasma TV and sound system) – to the deck outside with a Jacuzzi for six. The kitchen shimmers in cool white granite and is fully equipped. It all helps Hisha achieve a brilliant update on the country cottage concept, an ambience accented by timber, steel and muted soft furnishings.
 You can stay in Hisha (the name means ‘home' in Slovenian) as a couple or a group of up to six. Each room offers king-size comfort, there are three bathrooms and even another spa inside. Outside the kangaroos and kookaburras provide a perfect welcome to this funky slice of Daylesford charm.
