This is indeed an idyllic retreat for serious garden lovers, or lovers for whom a beautiful natural environment is also important. Surrounded by five acres of glorious mature gardens, it is the lavishly restored 1920s Art Deco home of Ted Woolrich, who pioneered one of the great garden nurseries for which the Dandenongs are renowned.
But the garden isn't the only star billing here – the house is simply beautiful. Two light, stylishly appointed bedrooms have separate dressing rooms and large bathrooms, and share a separate Jacuzzi room (with room for four). The bay window of the lounge surrounds a sunny dining area and the broad, elevated barbeque deck opens from the well-equipped kitchen.
 Guests are also free to wander through the glorious Cloudehill gardens that formed part of the old Woolrich estate: a maze of English-style garden ‘rooms' of mostly herbaceous perennials separated by hedges, stone walls and mellow brick masonry. There is a nursery shop and delightful cafe for lunch or teas, Chatterley's, with special deals for Woolrich guests.
