You don’t have to own a classic car to pull in the drive at Clarendon Cottages – the classics are all here waiting for you in the form of Clarendon’s garden and its cottages. First there are the English parkland gardens, which will cast a magical spell; mature trees, manicured lawns and splashes of flowering colour create a brilliant backdrop to these three gorgeous cottages.
Then there’s the cottages themselves. The Stables Cottage is a favourite: it has a romantic master bedroom with crisp white linen, French doors opening to the balcony and garden, a spacious lounge with log fire, intimate dining area and spa ensuite – all combining for a cosseted hideaway. There is also a second bedroom at The Stables for friends or family. Camellia Cottage also has a log fire (and a sleigh bed), while the very cute Dovecote ‘petite suite’ is on two levels: downstairs is a lounge with a picture window to the rose garden; upstairs is a fairytale bedroom in the treetops.
 Sassafras is the quintessential Dandenongs mountain village and Clarendon Cottages is the perfect base from which to explore – or not, if the fire beckons!
