As you turn off the Bendigo-Melbourne highway for Ravenswood, the noise and pace of the 21st century just fade away behind you. A winding gravel driveway leads you to this impressive reminder of Goldfields history: an imposing yet elegant red-brick homestead built in 1857. Today it offers guests the chance to experience mid-19th century grandeur with all the comforts of our own time – its gorgeous ambience is a tribute to host Art van Dyk who has filled Ravenswood with stunning antiques.
This classically restrained mansion is part of the tapestry of local history (often called the birthplace of Bendigo). Today, superb dinners are served in the opulent dining room and are sure to be the highlight of your stay – it is an event not to be missed. 
The gardens are dotted with quiet nooks for relaxing with a pot of tea and a book. We love the new studio-style, one-bedroom cottage – with an open fire – which might have been custom-built for newlyweds who have just been married in the immaculate grounds. Indeed, Ravenswood's grand, relaxed setting is perfect for any small groups or special occasions.
