If the word ‘cottage‘ suggests a little country abode where someone's grandma used to live, this is not it. Olive Tree Cottage is a snug, sun filled contemporary retreat with cathedral ceilings and a glass panel ceiling in the bedroom offering views of the starry sky. The spacious living area is surrounded by full-length windows that look out on a courtyard garden made all the more colourful by visiting rosellas.
And, yes, this charming private retreat for two is set in the midst of an 1800-tree olive grove which is a real bonus because you'll be spoilt by a range of olive soaps, hand creams and moisturisers. But there's more: home-baked bread for breakfast (with Margaret's jams) locally made muesli, free-range eggs and other goodies from the region.
 During the day, wander the extensive gardens and enjoy a swim in the pool. In the evenings, relax in the spa with a glass of bubbly or by your cosy fireside in cooler months. This is tantalising seachange country, but if it's too soon to consider making a permanent move, Olive Tree Cottage is a great place to get a relaxing taste of such a life.
