Since 1848, Cape Otway lighthouse has been a welcome beacon for mariners along the treacherous Shipwreck Coast, and looking out to sea from the cosy shelter of the secluded Shearwater Cottages it's easy to understand why.
The four self-contained cottages, widely separated for absolute privacy, are bordered by the Great Otway National Park and are nestled amid the manna gums, banksias, casuarinas and grasses of the coastal heathland on an elevated hillside leading down to the shoreline. Each cottage is sited and angled for the most spectacular views – the sight of the sun sinking into the watery horizon is particularly unforgettable.
This is definitely a spot for those who want to be close to nature and enjoy a ramble on  the coast (the beach is 11/2km away). You can even bring your well-behaved dog, he is welcome inside and should be with you when outside so as not to upset the koalas, kangaroos and other wildlife that frequent the area. We think that the bracing sea air, serene views and home comforts will have you totally relaxed in no time.

Facilities: Two two-bedroom cottages (queen and two singles or queen and king); two one-bedroom cottages (queen) each with lounge (gas log fire, Austar TV, DVD, VCR, CD), kitchen, bathroom, gas BBQ. Continental breakfast basket provided first morning.
