The 180-degree bird's-eye view from Chris's is breathtaking. Here you are on the balcony or in the living room of your villa, which seems perched on the side of a bushland foothill of the Otway Ranges, looking out over the treetops to the white-crested surf and changing moods of the Southern Ocean. In the distance you can see the fishing boat harbour and flickering night lights of Apollo Bay.
The six split-level timber villas and newer, more spacious studios on a lower level are comfortably furnished in bright, contemporary style and decorated with poster-pictures evocative of the seaside location.
The open-plan kitchens have all you need to cater for yourselves, but why bother when Chris Tahlimanidis's adjoining restaurant – rebuilt to a stunning, seemingly gravity- defying design – is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner (highly recommended by The Age Good Food Guide). Chris has long been a culinary legend on the Surf Coast, renowned for his hospitality, Greek-influenced and seafood dishes, and a great cellar of wines.
