You can't get much closer to the centre of Apollo Bay than this colourful, friendly, purpose-built B&B – just 400 metres from the shops and restaurants. Better still, the beach is only 100 metres away, meaning most guests park the car and forget it for the duration – unless they want to tour the Great Ocean Road's many attractions.
Hosts Merna and Jim Dwyer are locals who have made Apollo Bay Bed & Breakfast into a refreshing seaside stay – and they know all the best eating and sightseeing tips. The three guest suites each have private front entrances and verandah areas. You step onto Tasmanian oak floors, which highlight the soft furnishings and king-size beds (either doubles or singles). Ensuites are spacious and, of course, impeccably clean. From your bedroom you pass into the stylish glass atrium which creates a light-filled guest lounge and breakfast area. Curl up here with a coffee or browse the book and magazine collection.
