Nothing has been left to chance in maximising the spectacular views from each of Pomona's three luxurious spa cottages. Each has a wide verandah with its own rotunda and panoramic windows looking across the aptly named Beauty Point towards the broad sweep of the Tamar River and Port Dalrymple Bay, dotted with sailing boats and framed by gentle hills.
Early starters can take in the sun rising (seemingly) just on the other side of the water, while tucking into what must be some of the heartiest and most delicious brekkie provisions we have ever seen grace a table. The newly built Federation-style cottages – big enough to be called villas – offer one or two bedrooms. All have double spas and huge and comfy beds, and are lovingly finished in glowing timber.
 Pomona's gardens are extensive and luxuriously planted, but if you can tear yourself away there's plenty to do nearby. Launceston is down the road, there are good restaurants in the area and two local yacht clubs cater for the sailors. The Tamar River region is dotted with wineries, to which Pomona owners Paula and Bruce can arrange group visits. This is a special place, in a special part of Tasmania.
Location: 40km or 35 minutes north of Launceston; 55km or 60 minutes east of Devonport. HEMA RA 55 D2.
