Sunlight on stone, limpid blue waters, ancient timbers warming gently in the morning light: surely this must be some hidden Mediterranean village, or a gem of Provence or Tuscany' No, it's better than that. This is the luscious ambience of Piermont Retreat, which is set on a perfect vantage point opposite the internationally acclaimed and loved Freycinet Peninsula.
The beautiful stone cottages with their slate roofs are favourites of ours and their bio-sustainable construction will appeal to anyone else who wants an unsullied holiday environment. The same ecologically sensitive design has been applied to the newer cottages, with their rammed-earth or timber walls that blend subliminally with the landscape.
 The cottages are graced with cool colours, contemporary furnishings and lavish details such as wood fires for when the sun doesn't shine. Absolute beachfront views (and plenty of sandy beach), a restaurant, swimming pool, tennis court and access to nearby Swansea's many facilities are bonuses in this sea of natural calm.
