Turn on the sun with our luxury Sunshine Coast accommodation

What’s in a name? The region has an ideal climate for being outdoors and loving life. Sunshine? This region is virtually fail-safe for travellers, with more than 300 sunny days a year.

In summer, the average temperature ranges from 17 to 29 degrees, and the highs are tempered by sea breezes. Naturally, sunshine and beaches go together and there is an incredible choice here. Caloundra’s beaches are gorgeous stretches of warm sand that beg for a big towel, a sun umbrella and a good book. Surfers worship Moffat Beach for its breaks, but for less ambitious water-lovers there is protected swimming at Toowong lagoon.

You can walk along the coastal path to Moffat Headland, with views to Point Cartwright in the north. Cafes with al fresco dining add a cosmopolitan buzz to the Moffat streetscape. With everything in such close proximity, our Sunshine Coast accommodation allows you to easily explore all of this and more.

The marina at Mooloolaba completes a waterfront picture-postcard scene and it is home to a fleet of trawlers. That means there is plenty of fresh seafood for visitors to enjoy at one of the area’s sublime picnic spots, along with a bag of hot chips and a bottle of chilled white Stanthorpe wine. Mooloolaba is a classic Aussie beach town, with sweeping lawns and tall pines in the foreground of a main street lined with shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants and spas.

The heartbeat of the Sunshine Coast is the thriving town of Maroochydore. Set on the banks of a beautiful river and blessed with stunning beaches, this exciting centre ticks holidaymaker’s check list for adventure activities, superb dining choices and shopping. There is even a Farmer’s Market in the heart of town so the best of the region’s produce is showcased for visitors to sample.

Mudjimba Beach and Coolum offer a circuit-breaker of beachside calm in the middle of the Sunshine Coast. Thrillseekers can go skydiving for stupendous views and the rare treat of landing on that extraordinary beach. For land-loving visitors, there are sensational vistas from the ancient volcanic dome of Mount Coolum, said to be the world’s largest monolith after Uluru.

At the top end of the Cooloola Great Sandy National Park, Rainbow Beach draws its name from the intriguing mineral sands. Vehicle ferries connect the town with Fraser Island.

Not far down the beaten track surrounding the Sunshine Coast hinterland accommodation, you'll find the pretty Blackall Range towns of Montville and Maleny are replete with art galleries, health food and organic produce stores, cafes and alternative therapies. Baroon Pocket Dam is a great base, with a sailing club, naval cadet unit, fishing club, accommodation and picnic facilities.

To the south, the Glass House Mountains are startling lava plug formations in the gently undulating landscape. And in Mary Valley, the town of Imbil is close to Lake Borumba, which is a great spot for swimming, boating, water-skiing and fishing. The Mary Valley Heritage Railway terminates in Imbil and traverses some magnificent valley landscape offering beautiful scenery.
