On a property that has been in host Carol Bennier's family since the land was first settled by Europeans, Carolynne's Cottages paradoxically epitomise modern country style.
You first notice the beautiful sandstone, imported from India and featuring priceless ancient fossils. The surprises continue inside, where the cottages offer plenty of space and distinguished interior decoration. With the help of long-time friends in America, Carol found lamps that are not available in Australia. The drapery is impressive and local art is also represented, with watercolours and delicate embroidery illustrating the theme of each cottage. The soothing colour schemes in each cottage echo the Australian bush.
Despite the exceptional presentation, these cottages are very family friendly – the manicured lawns generously separate each cottage, allowing the kids to romp. For the romantic, our favourite is Possum's Paradise, offering unforgettable wedding night and anniversary stays. At dawn and dusk, the bird life abounds, including the daily migration of ibis from the neighbouring wetlands. This is a true sanctuary for nature – and for guests.
