There is something impossibly beautiful about the Redlynch Valley vista from The Rainforest Family Retreat's vast deck. From this heavenly highpoint (say, relaxing in the 15-person spa or propped on the edge of the pool), the valley absorbs you as much as you fill your spirit with it. Bird calls ring from unseen perches in the glorious rainforested hills around you. Heavenly, indeed.
But the house also plays a starring role here. It is quite simply tailor-made for a family or group of friends to retreat to for some quality time together. There are four big bedrooms, two bathrooms and a big entertainer's kitchen-dining-lounge area. Nothing has been forgotten – from a range of fun pool toys for the kids to the wide-screen plasma TV. Your can order up a massage or pop out to the local food and music venues. But staying put in your hillside heaven is all too easy.
 The surrounding district is full of natural delights. You are a five-minute drive from the spectacular Crystal Cascades and you even have access to a private freshwater creek (whose mesmerising falling waters can be heard in the house). Magical.
