Wine connoisseurs love staying at Fergies Hill Cottage at the award-winning Granite Ridge Wines estate but budding vignerons go totally wild at the thought. Why' Because when you stay overnight at Granite Ridge you get more than a bed; you can also flex your own winemaking muscles. Guests are welcome to discuss and take part in winemaking activities with hosts Dennis and Juliane and, if you time it right, you may be able to help out with a crush.
The modern-rustic, two-bedroom cottage has two bathrooms (one with spa) and is just perfect for couples travelling together. The cosy fireplace provides a warm backdrop for some wine tasting and you will be treated to a complimentary bottle of Granite Ridge to get you started. In the mornings you can take your time – Juliane packages up a breakfast basket stocked with homemade bread, jams and the best seasonal produce to eat at your leisure.
Follow your nose to the many local wineries for more of the region's delights. Nearby restaurants and galleries are definitely worth visiting as is Girraween National Park. Location: 238km or three hours south-west of Brisbane. RA 9 K10.
