Up, up where the air is clear … and you are at Hillside. When guests arrive and are ensconced in Gumnut Cottage, a real treat awaits: afternoon drinks on the cottage's private deck. “Breathtaking views” is a cliched phrase, but not here. As you sip a chilled white from a local winery, the world is laid out before you, a patchwork of forested hills and farmland all the way to the Gold Coast.
In the main house (but with private entrances) are the Rose Room with a sitting room with kitchenette or the Lyrebird Suite, a self-contained retreat with full kitchen. This set-up is ideal for families or couples travelling together, providing access to each other or plenty of privacy. Then there is Gumnut Cottage, a private haven tucked in the garden with its own balcony to the views.
Outside you can relax in the spa and then plunge into the palm-fringed pool. Local
wineries and a cheese factory invite you to explore and to taste. If you are seeking B&B hospitality with privacy, Hillside is your perfect base. Location: 73km or 1¼ hours south of Brisbane. RA 7 F11.
