You arrive from Mackay and are picked up by Keswick Island Guesthouse's hosts using the only mechanical transport available – a golf buggy. Perched high on a hill overlooking a perfect bay, the sympathetically designed retreat offers three serene suites, each with its own lounge, ensuite and access to a large deck. Eco-credentials include solar power and self-sufficiency in rainwater supplies. Three gourmet meals are provided each day, and snacks or picnic lunches are all included in the tariff.
Clear, flat waters and pristine beaches offer safe swimming, and equipment is supplied for sea kayaking and snorkelling amid brilliant coral. There is superb fishing from the beaches or on a charter boat in the Whitsundays, and angling gear is available. At day's end, magical sunsets are followed by a blaze of undimmed stars.
