The secret of art is to hide the art – paintings should move us rather than make us think of colour values and brushwork – and that's the way it is at Sejala Beach House. The myriad careful details create a harmonic, sensual experience of sublime tropical comfort and style.
You can, of course, override your senses to note how detailed the presentation is. A pavilion-style sitting room and shuttered doors and windows play hide and seek with absolute beachfront views and tropical breezes. Curtains, towels, sheets and sarongs are monogrammed and the bathroom is stocked with L'Occitane toiletries. Intimate courtyards, ponds, hammocks, fragrant plants and a very private glass-tiled swimming pool with a terrace that flows through to the sitting room are all evidence of expert planning.
But what we love most of all is the breezy, laid-back mood that invites you to kick off  your shoes and wrap on a sarong. Sejala defies explanation. Guests try to find the words – “morning brought the true beauty out” – and they are right. Sejala's simple, refined elegance is impeccable in detail and so very generous in spirit.
