How would you like to reach Miju Rainforest Retreat' On the scenic railway from Cairns to Kuranda, pausing on a spectacular trestle bridge at Barron River Falls, or by the 7.5km Skyrail cableway through the rainforest canopy' Or, of course, you can drive or use the free transfers from Cairns or the airport. But the welcome is the same – a private self contained apartment that seems to have grown in a lush garden 400m up on the Atherton Tableland.
The two-bedroom design is ideal for families or couples travelling together, yet one couple can have it exclusively at the one-bedroom rate. Kuranda has some wonderful restaurants to discover, but if you can't tear yourself away from Miju's pool and your own deck, the fully equipped kitchen will bring out your culinary skills. There's even a breadmaker for rustling up snacks or lending the scent of fresh toast to the morning air. By arrangement, Miju will prepare a barbecue dinner for guests as the tropical night descends.
Hosts Julie and Mike are a rich source of local information, and can help plan visits to the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree rainforest, Kuranda galleries and other highlights.
