The name Sunset Waters says it all really, with its delightful connotations of chilled gin and tonics taken at sunset on a gorgeous timber deck overlooking a serene landscape of waterways and distant mountains. Fragrant smoke rises from the barbecue beside you as your party chat and laugh and thank the lucky stars that brought you all together here to enjoy this evening.
This beautiful waterfront house on Macleay Island fronts Queensland's Moreton Bay Marine Park and its elevated position makes the most of an extraordinary location. Big floor-to-ceiling glass doors and louvred Queenslander-style windows frame the views, bringing the tranquil bay into every room. The pick of the three bedrooms is the upstairs master bedroom (with ensuite), which commands one of the finest morning vistas we have seen. It's a great place to set up a pot of tea and the morning papers while the kids romp downstairs.
Moreton Bay Marine Park is filled with natural wonders. How about swimming with  dolphins or sailing the bay or casting a lazy line into the water, perhaps to secure a fresh catch for the barbecue' Sheer bliss.
Location: 40-minute car/passenger ferry from Redland Bay, which is 40km or 40 minutes from Brisbane. RA 7 C12.
