Brisbane and Surrounds Leatherwood Lodge Brookfield (Brisbane) Architect Bud Brannigan has done an award-winning job with Leatherwood Lodge, which is more like a supremely comfortable art installation where guests are invited to move in and marvel. And it is not just the light-filled architecture that is stunning. Leatherwood's four elegant guestrooms feature Biedermeier-inspired furniture and Osborne & Little or French fabrics and are themed around a particular Australian artist, with notable original works gracing the walls.
It is hard to rave too much about the magnificent use of design and art to create a flawless ambience of serene beauty. The impressive salon for guests features a grand piano and more original artworks on the walls. Business and leisure travellers alike appreciate their own private guestroom entrances and are welcome to swim in the resort-style pool or jog the eight-acre property. The native gardens are notable, attracting wild rainbow lorikeets and king parrots, which flock for their daily feed.
