You could be forgiven for thinking you are in the middle of the country at Yarrowee Cottages. Set beside the gurgling Yarrowee River, with extensive gardens and a bush backdrop, the cottages exude country charm. The reality is, however, you are only three kilometres from the centre of Ballarat, making Yarrowee a choice that offers the best of both worlds.Everything about historic Ballarat is within easy reach, including Sovereign Hill, but there is plenty to do at this property. For the active, the Yarrowee Trail goes past the cottages so you can walk or cycle, if you bring your own bike, for 19km to Mount Buninyong and White Swan Reservoir.
There are three very different styles of cottages. Yarrowee is a two-storey, classic romantic style cottage with an upstairs attic bedroom. Admirals is full of colour and all things nautical, including a yacht-style front deck, while the three-bedroom Bilrene is perfect for families or friends travelling together.
If you love the creative and quirky, feel free to light the Howling Dog outdoor wood fire on a cool evening. Or perhaps book an in-cottage massage – just the thing to go with the cosy indoor wood fi res and double spa baths.
